The Whiteness of a Whale

I attended the exhibition, titled "The Whiteness of a Whale by Zhao Renhui & Satoshi Kataoka" at the Jendela gallery at The Esplanade a few days back. The artist, Zhao Renhui, also known as Robert Zhao, was the UOB Painting Of The Year winner in 2009.

This exhibition titled "The Whiteness Of A Whale" is his first solo

after his 1 year art residency in Japan after winning the 2009 UOB Painting of the Year award for his controversial photographs. The exhibition is a collection of his photography and archival works from the Institute of Critical Zoologist about a rare white whale which have been sighted numerous times between 1982 – 2008 around the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan.

Check out photos that Artitute has taken during the opening night ceremony and do check out the exhibition at Jendela (Visual Arts Space) at The Esplanade. Exhibition from the 28 JUL 2010, WED – 1 AUG 2010, SUN. For more info, check out The Esplanade’s website
