INSTINC is having an opencall for the submission for your art works for their upcoming art exhibition, titled SQUARES INVASION. It will be held at the uber chic and cool art gallery at SOHO @Central on from the 20-31 OCT 2011. SQUARES INVASION- The 50×50 Painting Show 2011, aimed to promote painting as a art form which seems to be forgotten as the art scene embraces more video and installation works and to create a platform for talented up-and-coming local painters to showcase their works and get recognition & exposure through two very cool prizes, INSTINC PRIZE and PEOPLE’S PRIZE.

The selection of the artworks will be carried out by the Jury composed by experts and important professionals of the art scene : Milenko Prvacki- Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, Singapore, Kelley Cheng- Creative Director of The Press Room, Kuros Nekouian- Founder of LW44, Munich Germany and Shih Yun Yeo- Founder of INSTINC After speaking to Shih Yun, Artitute was impressed by the prizes and felt that this will be a good opportunity for new and emerging artists to break into the Singapore art scene. The INSTINC PRIZE which consist of a one month residency in Munich and a solo show at INSTINC Gallery in Singapore, will help strengthen a young or emerging artist’s portfolio and open doors to new opportunities.  And the PEOPLE’S PRIZE is a solo exhibition at another cool gallery right smack in Singapore’s art district, the Night and Day Gallery. Visitors are asked to vote online at INSTINC’s Facebook Fanpage for their favorite artwork during the group exhibition at INSTINC Gallery from the 20-31 OCT 2011. Take this chance to showcase your works at the group exhibition, and win one of the opportunity that every young artist dream of. Check out the rules and regulations below. And don’t forget that the submission deadline is on the 1st August 2011. Prizes:

• INSTINC PRIZE: Solo show at INSTINC in 2012 and chance to to be an artist-in-residence at LW44 for a period of one month, an artist-run space in Munich, Germany(air fare and living expenses not included). Selection is based on a rating system that considers uniqueness, skill and ambition. (professionalism as an artist)
• The PEOPLE’S PRIZE wins a solo show at Day and Night Gallery in 2012 which will be held simultaneously as the solo show in INSTINC. End of voting 31 OCT 6pm Singapore time.

Rules:

• Size: Each artwork must be 50cm by 50cm!! (if framed, must not exceed 50cm by 50cm)
• The work cannot be exhibited before AND must be original work, not reproductions.

CATEGORY:

• Painting – works realized with technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, etc.) on whichever support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.)and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. Works signed at the front will be disqualified for the INSTINC AND PEOPLE’S PRIZE.

SIZE:

• The ONLY dimensions allowed per each work are 50cmx50cm(If framed, must not exceed 50cm by 50cm) Submitted Painting/s should be ready to be hung.
