Local artist, Yeo Chee Kiong, presents his 3rd major solo exhibition in Singapore – A Beauty Centre. This is a culmination of 25 years of his art practice and 7 years of conceptualization, planning and creating. It features sculptures, multimedia works, installation and performance, including collaborations with Ms Ruth Barker, a Glasgow based artist, and Dr Joyce Koh, an accomplished composer, Senior Lecturer and Vice Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies at The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Perfection is necessary (small)

Yeo sees himself as both sculptor and visual artist. By converting a gallery in an institution, not unlike a museum space often seen as a house for objects of beauty, into a beauty centre, the artist attempts to encourage dialogue on the art business, the role of materiality in contemporary art and how traditional notions of art and beauty continue to inform and challenge art practice today.
