An art exhibition of sketches of Tiong Bahru

I attended the opening of White Canvas Gallery and their first exhibition by 4 artists on Wednesday night (30th June).

The exhibition aptly called – An Art Exhibition of Sketched of Tiong Bahru Estate was curated within 2 months. The four artists, Paul Ng, Miel, Don Low and Tia Boon Sim, took an estimated 4 weekends each to complete their artworks. I was told that they each painted images of Tiong Bahru estates under the sun every weekend.

To those of you who don’t know much about Tiong Bahru, it is one of Singapore’s iconic public housing estates. Build by SIT before World War I. Tiong Bahru was built in 3 phases. I got to know about this bit of history by local architect Mr Lee Wai Fong, who gave a short presentation about Tiong Bahru at the event.

Dates of exhibition: 30 Jun to 17 Jul,
Open Daily 12 pm to 8 pm, except Sundays and Mondays
All works are for sale at White Canvas Gallery. Free entry.

White Canvas, a new gallery at Tiong Bahru, will also be hosting art classes and artist’s talks in July. For more information about their services, check out their website.
