"The Olympic Spirits" at POP! In The City I

Following the London 2012 Olympics, come celebrate the sporting spirit in Singapore at the ION Orchard Art Gallery. Singapore pop art specialist gallery, Pop and Contemporary Fine Art will be presenting “The Olympic Spirit” Exhibition by Burton Morris, featuring paintings commissioned by the International Olympic Museum of Lausanne for the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

35 stunning, hand painted with acrylic, works on canvas of the Olympic collection will be shown in Asia for the first time, after having been shown in the world renowned “Chelsea Piers” in New York. The Olympic Collection has also been shown internationally at public venues and also at the Hickory Museum of Art.

Through Morris’ distinctive bold and fun style, his paintings are a colourful take on three themes related to Olympics: the Ancient Games, fair play and Olympic athletes. Morris’ presentation of the Olympic theme gives the viewer a sense that art can be enjoyable, simple and a pleasant experience.

Artitute had the pleasure to meet it’s founder, Saskia Joosse and asked her a few questions. The ever stylist and elegant Ms Joosse shared with Artitute alittle about herself, how she set up Pop and Contemporary Fine Art and the inspiration behind the 2 part, 1 month art exhibition about Burton Morris and The Olympic Spirit at the Ion Art Gallery. And most importantly, what would she hope visitors will take away after they visit the exhibition.
