    Pameran Poskad 2012 is a group exhibition of postcard-sized artworks that is open to anyone and everyone who would like to participate.

    This fourth installment will be presented at Viridian Art House and Galeri Utama with more than 400 artists from 31countries. Some internationally recognised artists participating include Jimmy Ong,(Singapore), Donna Ong, (Singapore), Genevieve Chua (Singapore), BenCab (Philippines), Wilson Shieh (Hong Kong), R.E. Hartanto (Indonesia), Jiha Moon (Korea), Takashi Kuribayashi (Japan) and Ahmad Zakii Anwar (Malaysia).

    Small is the New Grand

    All artworks in this show fit within a postcard-sized sleeve and come in various forms that expand the interpretation of the “postcard.” Works range from two – dimensional prints, drawing, paintings, etc. to three – dimensional objects. The artwork size restriction keeps the works small, thereby limiting the price range and allowing the everyday consumer to purchase an original piece of art.

    Presented by Chan Hampe Galleries @ Raffles Hotel, The Obits is an exhibition by Grieve Perspective.

    Grieve Perspective is a Singapore-based art collective who use visual and written language to push the boundaries of art and explore taboo themes. The Obits focuses on the obituary as an art form that has somehow never quite taken hold in Singapore. Our newspapers feature death notices daily but nary an obituary the personal but slightly distanced profession of respect, reminiscence and regrets. It is, instead, our custom to frame our dead within boxes of rigidly determined sizes that stand like gravestones at the far end of the newspapers, sandwiched perversely between sports and business news.

    Drawing inspiration from the simple and seemingly mundane, well-known print-maker, Ms April Ng Kiow Ngor, transforms objects from Nature into abstract and imaginative landscapes by exploring the relationship between the dot, line and plane. Skillfully conveying a sense of calm and meditative silence.

    I was very fortunate that Ms Ng was able to spend sometime to share with me about her work during the opening reception at Art-2 Gallery.
