    President’s Young Talents 2013 at the Singapore Art Museum (till 15 September 2013)

    Inaugurated by SAM in 2001, the President’s Young Talents is Singapore’s premier commissioning exhibition, featuring the island’s most promising artists under the age of 35. Selected by an independent curatorial committee of local art professionals, these artists are mentored through the entire process of art creation, from concept development to exhibition realisation. This year’s exhibition features new commissions from Boo Junfeng, Liao Jiekai, Zaki Razak, Grace Tan, Ryf Zaini and Robert Zhao Renhui.

    Exclusive Preview: CELEBRATING WOMEN // Singapore

    Mark this Thursday – 7 March 2013 – on your calendar for the opening night of “Celebrating Women”, the inaugural charity art exhibition that highlights women’s issues, on the eve of the annual International Womens’ Day on 8 March. In association with AWARE, a charity that supports anti-violence against women, 12 female artists based in Singapore will showcase the multi-dimensionality of women and their real-life issues in the modern world. Additionally, 3 Singaporean female artists have been invited to perform spoken word and songs on the opening night. (more…)

    Yesterday was the opening of a new show at Mizuma Gallery at Gillman Barracks, and Mr Mizuma was there to welcome us to his second group show at Gillman Barracks. The exhibition presents a selection of contemporary artists from Japan and Asia. Highlights of this show were Zheng Jang and Ai Yamaguchi, as well as my sneak preview into the back room
