9 Lives is a unique design exhibition that is being held in conjunction with Singapore Design Week (SDW) 2017. The concept of the show came together when Tan Chin Chin was on the verge of adopting two cats. Upon her foray into shopping for cat furniture and accessories she found that the options available were, well… rather uninspiring! They say that necessity is the mother of invention and thus the idea of the 9 Lives Design Show was born.
Tan Chin Chin holds a degree in communications design from the University of Queensland and is the designer and founder of GOOOD Pet Collars. Her passion lies in integrating interaction, industrial and visual designs to create products with specific consumers in mind. Due to her background and vision on design, she recruited 9 designers to bring life, or lets say, 9 lives into this novel project!
The 9 designers were asked to reinterpret some of the classical and outdated cat furniture that we are all familiar with in order to create some amazing new designs that some would say are purrfect! The designs themselves are created to fit into the modern compact living spaces of today. The exhibition also aims to highlight how great designs can be employed into practically any aspect of life in order to improve the quality of our day to day experiences and that of our pets too.
