It was a night of fun, celebration and gathering for the artists and art supporters from all over the world at the Affordable Art Fair Singapore’s ArtyLicious Evening, held at the F1 Pit Building on the 22nd November. Amidst all the fun and laughter over the bubbly sponsored by G.H. Mumm, the victims of the typhoon haiyan in the Philippines were not forgotten. Proceeds from the sales of the tickets of the ArtyLicious Evening went towards supporting their official fundraising partner: The Red Pencil Humanitarian Mission.

    The Healing Process Of Art
The Red Pencil’s mission is to bring the benefits of art-therapy to reach out to children in overwhelming situations such as natural disasters, conflict zones and long-term hospitalizations, where words are just not enough to convey their pain, and yet whose sufferings need attention, expression, release, relief and ultimately healing. Proceeds from part of the Arty-Licious Evening ticket sales and the total sales of the finished graffiti artwork by Luke Cornish, sponsored by Art Equity and ABSOLUT will go towards supporting The Red Pencil’s mission. www.redpencil.org

With 82 artworks spread over 5 locations, the fourth edition of the Singapore Biennale (SB) is truly a mega exhibition. Its theme of “If the World Changed” focuses mainly on the Southeast Asian region and has been co-curated by a team of 27 curators, some of whom are practicing artists. This collective effort has ensured that because of their specialised knowledge of the region, the curators have selected artists and artworks that best represent contemporary practices in each of the 13 countries –- with many of the works being seen for the first time on the international exhibition circuit. This is a refreshing change, as with so many biennials and triennials taking place in the region during the year, one often sees the same artist and artworks again and again. (more…)
